Cinque

It's been five years since we "tied the knot" at sunset in a quaint little seaside village in Italy.

All aboard...

It's time to buckle those seat belts, keep your arms and legs in the car at all times. Tooot, toooOOOT...welcome aboard the crazy train. Rick and I are officially giving this making babies thing a priority again. There's only so much making dinner one can take, right? My baby is really no longer a baby and I guess it's going to have to near kill me to add anymore babies to this blog about making babies and making dinner. As if I even have time to write down what I made for dinner anymore anyway, who am I kidding. Making babies updates are so much quicker!

First update: I think I ovulated. It's still early and I ovulated early. Which means it'll be a short cycle, which is also a good thing because I don't have a lot of patience for long cycles. And at this rate, maybe fate is helping me out a little by throwing some short cycles into the mix. Although really short cycles aren't a good thing either. You need the proper amount of hormones to create a nice little environment for anything that might want to attach and hang out. So I'm wondering if I've got enough comfortable lining to burrow into. Pending that I have a nice hospitable follicle that will accept a roaming guest. Pending also that the roaming guest takes the right turn and even bumps into hospitable follicle. Pending that said hospitable follicle and said roaming guest decide to get to know each other a little and take it elsewhere down the hall, not just park it right there in the fallopian tube. Hopefully follicle and roaming guest play their parts and act accordingly. Oh, did I say this was going to be a brief update?

Sorry kiddos, this crazy train is not a smooth ride.

24 months old

24 months old doesn't sound as old as 2, so let's stay in denial for a bit and call her 24 months for now. We had Sophia's routine check-up today. She's in the 95th percentile for height and weight. She's a big girl. The Dr. asked more routine questions like: "Does she speak in short sentences?" The answer: "Yes. Her favorite sentence is, 'Let go! Gimme, it's mine!' which also may prove that's she is already well into her 2 year old stage."

Happy birthday TWO you...

How does it sneak up so quickly, that year between ONE and TWO? I know the first year of Sophia's life was like a blur, but I thought I would have more time this last year. Instead-- whoosh--here we are again.

We had a Sesame Street party theme, with Elmo cupcakes, pizza (Elmo's favorite), fruit salad and green salad (because everyone needs a little healthy food), and cookie ice cream sandwiches (Cookie Monster's favorite). We played games: "how many goldfish are in the jar?" which was definitely a little old for the kiddos, who's average answer was 5 goldfish, when the actual count was 400. The "treasure hunt" was a big hit, with the Sesame Street characters giving the clues along the way. And the bean bag toss, (sans bean bags, substitute with bath toys) into Dorothy's fish bowl was a nice distraction between lunch and dessert. The younger kids played in the backyard, the older kids played "round the world" with the basketball hoop, the weather held up as much as one can expect during the start of Spring. It was a fun day all around.
Sophia has her 2 year check-up in a few days. We'll save the sappy "where did my baby go" stuff till then.

Happy Easter

You know it's going to be a good day when you start out the morning with a little chocolate and marshmallow. And hey, a little rain didn't ruin our Spring cheer! We had a half in, half out Easter egg hunt. Rick had started hiding the eggs outside until the first few drops gave way to a steady downpour. The rest were strategically placed indoors. So round 1 was held inside after our brunch, and round 2 was held outside after dessert.

Time out

I've recently intoduced "time out" to Sophia. The first few times seemed almost enjoyable to her. "Do you want to sit in your chair and think about it for a minute?" I'd ask her. "Yes!" she would enthusiastically reply, and off she went on her very own to sit in her chair. Until she realized fairly quickly that it's really not too fun sitting all alone in a chair.
