New play structure
I'd been looking around for a gently used play structure for awhile now. I knew we could use the swing right away, and the other stuff Sophia would grow into, but it would also get use from her cousins and my friend's kids.
Rick and Fred put the structure up last weekend. Just as I expected, Sophia can't get enough of the swing. It's so much easier having the swing in our backyard! I have to admit, I'm living a bit vicariously through Sophia. I even gave the swing a try a few times. The slide though...well sadly my butt doesn't fit on that. Rick tried it first, and when his butt wouldn't fit, then I knew there was no way I'd be going down it.

June 12 on the 12th
So the day started out pretty uneventful at our house. Sophia woke up in a good mood and had her usual cheerios and banana.
I needed to water the garden, so while out there I wanted to take pictures of the progress. Our zucchini are just starting to grow, and the beans aren't far behind.
I got Sophia dressed and we headed off to Gymboree class. She had a good time playing with her friends.
We went to Costco and while there, I decided to pick up a pregnancy test. This was our first month "trying" for another baby, so I didn't put a whole lot of stock into actually being pregnant. I put Sophia down for her nap and decided to pee on a stick. If there's a pregnancy test in the house, it won't sit un-peed on fer very long. And SURPRISE, a big fat second line!! And that's when the normal day turned anything but.
I knew Rick wouldn't be expecting this, so for the first time I was actually able to come up with a cutesy way to tell him the news. So I got a hamburger bun out of the freezer and plopped it in the oven with the positive pregnancy test next to it (Get it? Bun in the oven...). He came home from work and I was in the other room, so I yelled to him that I had something in the oven, could he get it out for me? Well, he figured it out and his eyes lit up and he said, "that didn't take too long!" As you may recall, it took almost 3 years to conceive Sophia so we were sort of expecting it to take a little longer again.
Maybe Sophia picked up on the shift of moods, because boy did she throw a temper tantrum! Luckily it was the 12th, so I was able to capture the complete meltdown on camera.

Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my!
No more "click, click, click..."
Dear cook top, I've been waiting for you for 5 long years. I have painfully endured cooking each night on a cook top that had a faulty starter, one that constantly clicked. And then to add insult to injury, one of the burners failed to light one night back about a year ago. And then a few months ago, another burner went kaput. Not to mention the work it was to keep the other white glass top one clean. I almost cried when you arrived the other day. I actually got goosebumps. And then I contemplated what and how many acts of kindness I would have to perform for my dear husband so that you could be installed. But I think Rick understood how much you meant to me, so he installed you the very next day. And oh baby, you are well worth the wait. My first test was a simple grilled cheese sandwich for Sophia's lunch. What took 10 minutes in the past took about 2 minutes, 1 minute on each side. I've been cooking on simmer for 5 long years until you came into my life, cook top. Now I'm really cooking with fire! You and I have become fast friends. I am so happy you are finally here.

What's for dinner? Cat food.
Who knew cat food tasted so delicious? I'm tempted to try this tasty treat that I can't keep Sophia away from. If I turn for one split second, she's got one hand in the bowl and one hand that's already made it up to stuff her mouth full of the delectable bits. She simply can't get enough. It boasts the nutritious ingredients on the label, so I suppose if she's not going to eat meat, she'll have her daily intake of iron from the snack bowl, er, cat bowl.
